How carbon.legal uses cookies and similar browser storage.
In short: Snitcher identifies the organisation a visit comes from, and stores an identifier only if you accept.

Cookies are small text files a website places on your device; browser local storage does a similar job without being sent to the server.
Both let a site remember something between visits.
Use
What this site stores
This site keeps your answer to the cookie notice, accepted or declined, in your browser’s local storage under the key cookie-consent so you are not asked again.
That preference is strictly necessary to respect your choice and does not require consent.
Snitcher loads on every page with waitForConsent set, so it stores no cookie or persistent visitor identifier on your device until you accept.
If you accept, Snitcher stores an identifier in cookies and browser storage that links your return visits to the organisation identified from your IP address; the privacy policy says what it records.
No advertising or cross-site tracking is used on this site.
Snitcher identifies the organisation from your IP address whatever you answer.
Accept adds an identifier that links your return visits; Decline does not.
Signing in
Sign-in cookies live on uksrs.org.uk
This site has no sign-in, and sets no sign-in cookie.
Signing in happens on uksrs.org.uk, which sets its own sign-in cookies on its own domain; none of them is set on, or read by, carbon.legal.

Third parties
The booking embed
The booking page embeds Cal.com’s scheduler, which runs under Cal.com’s own policies; see the privacy policy for how bookings are handled.
Control
Managing cookies
You can delete cookies and local storage, or block them, through your browser settings.
If you clear the stored preference, the banner will ask again on your next visit.
